In the summer of 2022, we launched a photography competition for the Black Country UNESCO Global Geopark.
We asked people (of all ages!) to take part and send in their photos, which captured the heart and soul of the Black Country. Within six weeks more than 200 photographs were entered.
The judges (made up of members of the geopark’s management team) had a tough choice whittling down the entries but eventually they chose their top 12. It was then over to the Mayors of Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton to choose their overall winner and three runners up.
The winning image of Walsall Arboretum was sent in by Raj Chouhan and was announced as the winner on the inaugural international geodiversity day.
We hope you enjoy this calendar for 2023, which features the overall winner, three runners up and eight commended entries. Finally, thanks to everyone who took the time to enter our competition.
